The Summit Planning Group is a Peoria-based nonprofit and public agency consulting and training firm that has served over 120 organizations throughout the United States. Clients have included the American Red Cross, Prevent Child Abuse America, Habitat for Humanity, community nonprofits, public libraries, health departments and community colleges.

About Dr. John R. Throop
Dr. John R. Throop has presented nonprofit and management training workshops throughout the Midwest since 1992. He has 31 years of experience in the nonprofit sector as a board member, volunteer, executive director and consultant. Currently he serves as president of the board of Citizens to Preserve Jubilee College, treasurer of Central Illinois Friends of People With AIDS, and also trustee of CityLink (the Greater Peoria Mass Transit District). He earned his doctorate in 1995 from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California focusing on organizational development in religious organizations. He has been president of The Summit Planning Group for ten years.
